Lend A Hand Foundation kicked off the 25 Days of Giving with a Turkey Drive at Cypress Mandela Training Center in Oakland, CA on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

Oakland, CA – November 25, 2024 – The Lend A Hand Foundation officially launched its 25 Days of Giving initiative on Saturday with a successful Turkey Drive, helping Bay Area families facing food insecurity. This is just the beginning of a season-long effort to uplift the community and bring joy to families in need during the holiday season.

With the rising cost of living and increasing demand, this year’s Turkey Drive met a critical need, ensuring families had access to a Thanksgiving meal. Each package included staples such as canned vegetables, stuffing mix, and other holiday favorites, along with turkeys generously donated by local partners and community members.

"This year’s Turkey Drive was a powerful reminder of the strength and generosity of our Oakland community," said Dee Johnson, executive director of the Lend A Hand Foundation. "We are so grateful to our volunteers, donors, and sponsors who came together to make this event possible. But our work doesn’t stop here—there is so much more to do as we continue our 25 Days of Giving."

Mark Your Calendars for the Joy of Giving Event – December 14, 2024

The highlight of this initiative will be the 25th Annual Joy of Giving event on December 14th. At this event, the Lend A Hand Foundation will distribute new coats, toys, toiletries, school supplies, and other essentials to families in need, while also hosting a festive meal for attendees.

This year, the Foundation aims to serve the Oakland community, building on past successes to spread even more joy during the holiday season.
